Update on the Bolnore School Competition

Mark Dunn, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People

Background

A public consultation took place in the Haywards Heath area in June and July 2007 to consider the best way to provide extra primary school places for children in the locality.  An overwhelming response was in favour of a new school to serve Bolnore Village, a housing development to the south west of the town.

The Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Mark Dunn, is fully supportive of the school proposal and has invited competitive bids to run the school under the new Education & Inspections Act 2006 regulations.  The school is planned to open in September 2009 in spare accomodation at St Wilfrid's CE Primary School and then transfer to new buildings in Bolnore Village in September 2010.
