Return to Teaching

Return to Teaching

Are you a teacher who has been out of teaching for some time and is considering a return to teaching?

If so, West Sussex County Council will be running the following Return to Teaching Course:

  • Spring Term 2009
    Full-Time PRIMARY/SECONDARY /SPECIAL JOINT COURSE

Participants will receive a training bursary of up to £150 per week and reimbursement of relevant childcare costs (up to a maximum amount) while on the course.

To be eligible for these courses you must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK and in most circumstances be applying to return to the phase for which you qualified.

Overseas Trained Teachers who qualified within the European Economic Areas or Switzerland, should contact the General Teaching Council on 0870 001 0308 to obtain advice regarding QTS in the UK. Overseas Trained Teachers who qualified outside of the EEA should contact the Training and Development Agency's Overseas Trained Teacher advice line on 0845 6000 991 for advice regarding QTS in the UK.

It would be helpful if you have been into a school in the last 12 months e.g. as a school governor, classroom assistant, parent helper or have visited a school under the Open Schools' Scheme - (details of the Open Schools Scheme can be found at www.tda.gov.uk) although this is not essential.

If you require further information on the course, please contact Carol Vigor, School Workforce Development Officer, at carol.vigor@westsussex.gov.uk or telephone 01243 642351.
