Transition Toolkit

The transition toolkit is designed to enable teachers in secondary schools to cope more effectively with the range of MFL experience in the classroom and so enhance students’ learning.

The toolkit addresses the following key issues:

  • To acknowledge prior attainment;
  • To offer challenge to all learners

It offers helpful hints on a range of various transition issues:

  • Primary and Secondary Liaison
  • Speak your Mind – an audit for pupils
  • Strategies to acknowledge prior learning
  • Strategies to memorise language
  • A cross-curricular  or multi-ethnic approach

This pack has been created by the following group of West Sussex leading teachers in MFL:

Lindsay Futcher, Davison C.E. High School for Girls,

Elaine Minett, Bishop Luffa C.E. School,

Duncan Powell, Oathall Community College,

Gaëlle Thompson, Warden Park School,

Eleanor White, Rydon Community College,

in collaboration with Chris Behagg, West Sussex SIS

West Sussex LA is extremely grateful to the leading teacher team for their involvement and also to the Headteachers of the above schools, for the release of their teachers for this project.
