Apple Mac Support

|

Introduction

Apple products have their very own distinctive style and 'easy to use' software applications that are engaging for both pupils and teachers. The Apple iLife software suite offers a complete approach to digital video, integrated picture and movie editing. Schools are beginning to see advantages of Apple 'ease of use' for digital video editing and the new GarageBand music software is astoundingly good.

Despite these benefits many schools do not feel sufficiently confident to purchase a Mac. In order to give schools greater confidence ICTS have investigated the various options available to provide good value technical support and advice to schools.

After investigating the various options it was decided that in the short to medium term it would not be financially viable for ICTS to offer support for Macs directly. This decision was taken due to the costs associated with the initial and ongoing training. With the current low number of Macs in use the cost passed onto to schools would be too high.

As the number of Apple Macs increase ITS will revaluate the costs associated with providing Apple Mac support direct to the schools. As an alternative ITS worked with local companies to set up an agreement that will provide schools with an easier route to purchasing and maintaining an Apple Mac. These companies are Mach One Design Equipment based in Worthing and AppleCentre Brighton and Hove (Solutions Inc) based in Brighton. ITS feel that the services offered by both companies will compliment each other and provide schools with a complete range of Apple products and support.
