3. Planning Rother Valley Schools for the Future

Rother Valley Schools document's cover
During the Autumn Term 2007 the County Council consulted the community on our proposition that we should change the Age of Transfer to secondary school to the age of 11 in line with the Key Stages of the National Curriculum.

There was a full and healthy debate with parents, staff, governors and the wider community on the educational, demographic and financial drivers for change, which received wide support.

The comments and points raised informed the development of some key principles to guide our proposals. We wish to draw on these to inform the future shape of schooling in the area.

The 2nd phase of consultation has now ended. The Cabinet Member has written to all parents of primary school children within the Rother Valley area to let them know the outcome of the recent consultation. The letter is attached below.

The consultation outcome for secondary provision resulted in the Cabinet Member 's decision to publish statutory notices on the proposal to establish an Academy from January 2009 on one of the existing school sites in Easebourne or Midhurst. A final decision is expected in September 2008.
