This annual programme, undertaken in collaboration with colleagues at the Teacher Training College in Macon, was launched in 1996, and since then has proved increasingly popular and successful with schools.
The scheme, which provides a free additional teaching resource to schools, has so far involved over 40 West Sussex schools.
The French student teachers spend their final four weeks teaching practice in a West Sussex primary school. This is an excellent opportunity for primary schools to develop links with France, to introduce a French perspective across a range of curriculum areas, to support language and language awareness teaching and to give both pupils and teachers an insight into French culture and way of life. The scheme also supports the increasing number of schools which are using International Links to provide an authentic context for both citizenship and multicultural education and for the purposeful use of ICT.
