Regulations and Guidance for Off-Site Activities

Outdoor Education Regulation and Notes of Guidance

The organisation of safety on off-site activities is vitally important. This updated 2007 version of the authorities Regulations and Notes of Guidance provides information and advice on good practice and represents the Childrens and Young Peoples’ Service's generic risk assessment. The regulations are mandatory for all employees and should be used by Educational Visits Co-ordinators when monitoring arrangements. Everyone involved in off-site opportunities is expected to be aware of its contents.

A hard copy of the original (2004) document was distributed to all educational establishments in West Sussex (including the Youth Service). You should print off this 2007 document and destroy the previous version.

You can view the most up to date version of the document on-line by clicking on the link below. You should re-visit this site regularly as no further hard copies will be distributed.

For further information about the regulations and guidance please contact the Outdoor Education Office on 01243 777210.
