Governors

West Sussex Governors

Governors play an important part in overseeing the running of the school in the interests of the community it serves. Governors govern rather than manage. They are there to give direction and focus by performing a vital strategic role, ensuring the best possible education is provided for the children and young people in their school. This site is for new governors, as well as those who have been involved with schools for a period of time.

Our schools need Governors, and you could be just who we're looking for. What do Governors do? What sort of people become school Governors? Listen to our podcast to hear what it means to take on the most important voluntary role in schools in West Sussex. You can register to be a governor, just fill in this online form and a member of the Governor team will get back to you.

If you wish, you can contact the West Sussex Governors’ Helpline on 01293 423501 (North) or 01903 839244 (South). Other useful contacts can be found here too! We welcome contributions, suggestions and comments, so do get in touch via the feedback link above.
