FMSIS - Financial Management Standard in Schools

The Financial Management Standard in Schools is essentially a statement of the characteristics of a school that is well managed financially. It:

  • sets out good practice
  • gives guidance on doing the basics well.
  • gives a basis for sound financial management.
  • gives schools a benchmark, and an assurance and confirmation of good practice
  • enables local authorities to comply with requirement for CFOs to sign a required declaration of FMS Assurance.

This section of the Schools' Finance pages gives schools information about FMSiS and the assessment process and links to useful sites and documents.
