The Financial Management Standard in Schools is essentially a statement of the characteristics of a school that is well managed financially. It:
- sets out good practice
- gives guidance on doing the basics well.
- gives a basis for sound financial management.
- gives schools a benchmark, and an assurance and confirmation of good practice
- enables local authorities to comply with requirement for CFOs to sign a required declaration of FMS Assurance.
