The local authority promotes the role of the AST as providing inspirational leadership from the classroom and translating policies and strategies into positive educational actions and outcomes. Our ASTs will provide a model of reflective practice, engaging with educational research and developing new initiatives and innovative practices through partnerships and networks. They will both model informed practice in matching teaching to learning needs and coach others so they can take responsibility for their own improvement.
ASTs will set an example in taking a lead in their own professional development to remain at the cutting edge of good practice. They will be an expanding group of excellent practitioners, supporting colleagues in aspiring to this role and sharing and increasing their knowledge and disseminating it across the local authority and their locality as well as in their own organisation.
