Networked Learning Communities

Networked Learning Communities are an extension of the idea of communities of practice of professional learning communities, that can exist within a school to a similar way of working across a group of schools.

The NCSL was instrumental in promoting the development of Networked Learning Communitites arising from its research on capacity building when it was first set up in 2000.

Primary Learning Networks are currently being promoted nationally and locally supported by Grant funding.  West Sussex is encouraging the alignment of Primary Learning Networks with 'localities'.  This enables schools in geographical area to focus on a common goal, the achievement of all pupils in their locality and to share the energy, experience and expertise of all members of that network.

In West Sussex we recognise the key role of those leading CPD across networks and have therefore developed a job description to help support collaborative working.

This page provides national links and links to local networked learning communities to support the notion of networked learning and to facilitate the sharing of learning across schools, networks and groups engaged in such developments.
