Welcome to the Translation Section of this website.
The main languages spoken in West Sussex apart from English include Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Pashto, Punjabi, German and Portuguese.
Currently the council offers web pages with advice about translation and interpreting facilities in each of these languages. Click on the links at the bottom of this page for translation into these languages.
We also link to the free translation service available from Altavista and Systran at http://babelfish.altavista.com where you can translate from English into French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Please note, we are not responsible for this service and cannot guarantee the accuracy of the translations available.
To translate the page you require you have to copy and paste the text or the URL of that page into the text box of the Altavista page. Then select the language you would like the text translated into. The page will automatically be translated.
After this when you click on a link, you will be transferred to the Babelfish page which already contains the URL and you then simply press the enter key to translate the page. Please note that there may be a size restriction of 5K on the content which can be translated.
If the language you require is listed below, simply click on the appropriate language and all subsequent pages will be translated into that language. Please note that some of these are dependent on you having the correct script/symbols in your system. Please allow a brief delay while this takes place.
