Continuing Professional Development is a means 'to rejuvenate practice, to expand our professional repertoire, increase our self esteem, self confidence and enthusiasm for teaching or, for example our level of criticality and, thereby, achieve enhanced job satisfaction' (Pachler & Field 2004:2)

This page contains links to sources of information about learning for all those working in schools; these include opportunities that can be found locally, through our Higher Education Partners and internationally.  It also links to the work of ASTs, Networks, good practice and research.  Opportunities for school accreditation by national awards can be explored as can accreditation of a range of learning experiences.

Some of the links may be hidden from view until you have logged into the site. Click on the Login link above to ensure you can see any password protected areas.

See file attachments for new Activation of Standards, guidance for target setting, PM and CPD.  These documents are being produced on a CD Rom and will be sent out to schools in September 2009.  Please read the introductory sections about how to use, personalise and save these documents which are advisory only.  They have been trialled over the last academic year and revised and developed in response to feedback from schools.  They are designed to encourage teachers to be proactive and take responsibility for their own objective setting and career planning.  We hope you will find them helpful and will be contacting you later in the year for feedback.
