Capital Planning

Downlands Community School

The Capital Planning Team is responsible for planning, administering and implementing the Children and Young People's Capital Programme and the provision of appropriate school buildings to accommodate the pupils of West Sussex and meet the requirements of the modern day curriculum.

In particular, the team prepares bids to the DCSF for capital funding, seeks capital funds from other sources to contribute to Children and Young People's building projects, acts as the client for these projects and gives advice to schools on site and accommodation matters.

Further details of individual staff responsibilities are given on the contacts page. The team works with Property Services in the development of the Asset Management Plan. This is a statutory requirement which will provide local authorities and schools with a basis for effective future capital investment and help to ensure that the significant additional capital funding being made available will deliver innovative, suitable and inclusive facilities that will form focal points of learning for the whole community.
