The Schools Library Service supports the curriculum in West Sussex schools through the provision of quality resources and consultancy. Libraries have a vital role within the learning environment, and in developing independent learning skills.
The Services we offer include:-
- Project loans to support classroom teaching at KS1 & KS2.
- Termly mobile library visits to all primary schools within the local authority.
- Consultancy on libraries/learning resource centres KS1 - KS4 to support:
- learning resource centre policies and development planning
- library and information handling skills;
- developing resources to meet the National Curriculum;
- supporting book purchase through visits to library suppliers and our exhibition collection of new books;
- planning and designing learning resource centres;
- managing, organising and automating learning resource centres;
- training for librarians and ancillaries;
- book promotion and book events, talks and author visits;
- In-service training for teachers.
