Schools Library Service

The Schools Library Service supports the curriculum in West Sussex schools through the provision of quality resources and consultancy. Libraries have a vital role within the learning environment, and in developing independent learning skills.

The Services we offer include:-

  • Project loans to support classroom teaching at KS1 & KS2.
  • Termly mobile library visits to all primary schools within the local authority.
  • Consultancy on libraries/learning resource centres KS1 - KS4 to support:
    • learning resource centre policies and development planning
    • library and information handling skills;
    • developing resources to meet the National Curriculum;
    • supporting book purchase through visits to library suppliers and our exhibition collection of new books;
    • planning and designing learning resource centres;
    • managing, organising and automating learning resource centres;
    • training for librarians and ancillaries;
    • book promotion and book events, talks and author visits;
    • In-service training for teachers.
