Portal Help - How to set up YOUR homepage!

The home page of the WSGfL has been put together as a portal page – this is a term for web pages that draws together various resources onto a single page. Essentially this is the internet equivalent of having several windows open on your desktop. Each separate area of the screen is known as a portlet. So, you can think of the WSGfL homepage as a desktop, and each portlet as a separate window.

Portals are commonly used as homepages for large websites, such as the WSGfL, as they allow you to easily access resources that are spread throughout the site and often other sites too. Portals are usually customisable to a degree, and the WSGfL is no exception, but the larger part of the homepage is under the control of a site administrator.
